About Our Patron

St. Frances Xavier Cabrini is otherwise known as “Mother Cabrini” – you may have seen the biographical movie about her life which was released by Angel Studios in 2024.

Cabrini was an Italian-American religious sister who served as a missionary to care for abandoned and neglected children. Her primary goal was to provide a home for kids who would otherwise be living on the streets. Her secondary goal was to teach them. The religious order she founded in the early 1900s became incredibly prolific, and orphanages and schools sprang up through the efforts of those very children she helped raise.

“Mother Cabrini” would eventually become the first Italian-American saint. She was canonized in 1917.

About Us

The Mother Cabrini Student Scholarship (MCSS) Non-profit is a 501(c)(3) that was launched in 2024 in memory of one of our own; a Simi Valley mother of seven that was tragically killed while riding her bicycle to the grocery store in December of 2023. Because the victim of this tragedy was a home-school teacher and primary caregiver, her children would be at a grave loss, not to mention disillusioned and desperate for continuity.

This non-profit was established to benefit the children and others like them. Bottom line, MCSS seeks to do what Mother Cabrini did throughout her lifetime. By providing access to faith-based education & a safe-space for young people, we support the needs of disadvantaged children through our scholarship program.
